Plagirism Workshop

1. 1: As long as the roommates don't write the same papers they're not copying off each other, they are using their own words and minds. However, this has a high potential to become plagirism if one roommate gets lazy. Also, the roommates are doing the same research so their papers might sound very simililar. If they do not copy their papers from eachother and cite their source, this is justifiable. There is nothing wrong with doing research together but they should use different sources just to make sure the teacher doesnt feel it is plagirism.
2. 2: The student is NOT taking some one else's work and saying it is their own. This does have a high potential because it is a little lazy and the teacher might view it as plagirism. The UCF atmospehere and stress of 6 classes greatly contributes to plagirism because everything is based on GPA and if you do not get an "A" your GPA falls if you have a "B". which is still good. So having 6 classes, this is stressful. This is justifiable beacuse you are not at all taking some one else's ideas.
3. 3: As long as you DON'T take the others ideas and words and are ONLY using their posts to help you answer the question of "what am I supposed to do?" you are fine. However, this is also high potential because 1. the other students could be wrong and 2. you could steal their ideas. The best thing to do is to ask the teacher directly and avoid using other's posts because you could accidently use their ideas and think it's your own. This would be less justifiable because it would be your fault for looking at others posts. The UCF atmospehere could help to ask the teacher for help because if you are afraid to ask in person you can send an e-mail and since UCF is so big, the teacher wouldnt know who you are.
4. 5: Just because you change SOME of the wording, you took their idea's. This is NOT justifiable, you took their ideas and answer's. Not much else to say except DEFINITELY plagirism.
5. 0: As long as you cite the picture (if that is required to cite pictures) you are fine. You cant really copy some one's picture and you didnt see anyone had it first. You didnt take anyone's ideas and claim them as your own. This is justifiable and everyone else did this, too! NOT plagirism.

Criteria for Kyoto review

The criteria I am going to base my review on are these four criteria: variety of sushi rolls, combination of hibachi flavors, authenticity, and the types of specials.
When I say variety of sushi rolls, I mean is there different kinds of sushi rolls so that the menu will appeal to multiple taste buds. The menu should have an all vegetable roll for vegetarians and for beginner sushi “eaters” (people that are just starting to eat sushi). The rolls should also be a FRESH variety of fish so that people who like tuna can have tuna and people who like grouper can have a grouper roll.
When I have hibachi, I hope for a good combination of flavors. I would not like to have a hibachi plate that has different flavors that mix poorly together. I like to have a consistent Japanese taste.
I also like to have a plate that flows with the Japanese atmosphere and the food tastes authentic with fried rice and flavorful vegetables. By authenticity, I mean that the food should be classic Japanese flavors, like the new taste “umami” and soy sauce and of course the delicious white sauce that everyone knows and loves.
I also like restaurants that offer new specials so there is a new variety of flavors and you can also save a few bucks. Kyoto offers a lunch special that is around $8 for a hibachi entrée. You can mix up your plate and choose what type of rice, meat and choose a soup or salad you want.

Audience for Kyoto

People who go to Kyoto are people who like to eat! A Kyoto customer is someone that values: quality of food, service, cleanliness, consistency and keeping their wallet full and not empty! Overall, the Kyoto customer values the quality of food, not just any kind of food though, Japanese food and sushi. The Kyoto audience could be anyone of any age, ethnicity or gender. The audience of this food must also like Japanese food and/or sushi. Since the restaurant’s prices are so reasonable, college students can afford it along with people rich or poor. Compared to Kobe’s or Fuji Sushi, Kyoto is more directed at college students because of their location (right on the UCF campus) and how inexpensive the entrée’s are. However, anyone can enjoy this restaurant.
A customer would need to have friends who like fried rice, chicken, steak, noodles, miso soup, salad and sushi, basically Japanese hibachi food. Even if the customer did not have any friends interested in Japanese food, they could eat it by themselves due to the very convenient take-out option. Even socially, this is a good place to go! Customers can bring their friends, sit down in a booth or table, and laugh over a great meal. Even if students have a little bit of time to kill in between classes, there is a great lunch special and since Kyoto is so quick, being late to class would be an option.
The customer would benefit by going to this restaurant because they would get a hibachi meal (minus the part where they cook in front of you) for a very decent price. Before going into this restaurant, the customer should know that this is not the typical hibachi restaurant. In Kyoto, the chefs do not cook in front of you. This might be a little saddening for some people who like the entertainment and the onion volcano’s but the food is just as good and so is the white sauce most hibachi lovers know and love! For the people who like a more quaint and quiet atmosphere (unlike other Japanese steakhouses, like Kobe or Fuji) but still want to indulge in the delicious food, this is the perfect place! The quality of food is the same but there is no crazy, loud atmosphere.
An audience member for Kyoto is also someone that likes a clean place and the service is very efficient. The customer can get their own drinks from the soda fountain so that makes the service great! No more waiting for the waitress to notice you need more water! The white sauce and ginger sauces are always filled in a large container right on the table so you can add as much as you want! Of course, if you are missing something there is waitresses there that deliver your food to you from the kitchen and they can give you what you need.
In conclusion, Kyoto’s audience would be anyone who likes quality Japanese food and sushi. The customer also likes quiet places where the service is great and the prices are even better.

THESIS PARAGRAPH

A strange phenomenon has swept the University of Central Florida; skateboarders are taking over the sidewalks and streets, running over passersby and creating injuries. I have experienced this first hand after being almost run over by a skateboarder. The big problem is that UCF students are being injured and walkers are being knocked off the sidewalk. Even though this situation is potentially dangerous, I understand skateboarders need a way to get around on this ginormous campus; prehaps there is a fix. After noticing this phenomenon, five questions have arised. The first being how many injuries have skateboarders caused? The next being, how do other students feel about this trend? That will lead me into my third question; how many people has this occurred to? Who is at fault, the walker or the skateboarder? And the last question to ponder is… Is there a fix to this problem? I noticed this trend one day while I waited for my friends in front of the Student union.

commentary outline

COMMENTARY OUTLINE:

I. INTRO:
a. I will give you background about how I came to notice that skateboarding became a pattern.
(why I think this is important)
b. I will then give an outstanding thesis that will give you insight into what this trend signifies.
c. I will then give you an overview of the questions I am going to ponder.
QUESTIONS:
How many injuries are caused by skateboarders?
How do other people feel about this situation?
How many other people has this occurred to?
When this situation happens, who is at fault?
Is there a fix to this problem?

II. PARAGRAPH 1:
MAIN POINT: INJURIES AND HOW MANY PEOPLE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO.
a. I will tell you about how I interviewed a group of people and asked them if this problem has happened to them.
b. I will also give research I have found about home many people (skateboarders and walkers) have been injured because of skateboarding.

III. PARAGRAPH 2:
MAIN POINT: HOW DO OTHERS FEEL ABOUT THIS TREND
a. I will interview a random group to see how people feel about this situation.

IV. PARAGRAPH 3:
MAIN POINT: WHO IS AT FAULT AND IS THERE A FIX?
a. I will interview and give you the results as to how many campuses have banned skateboarding (is that a fix)
b. and how many people think skateboarders or walkers are at fault.

V. CLOSE:
a. In the conclusion I will repeat my intro questions
b. Then I will state my results
